David Paletz was a legendary teacher at Duke. In 1984 he received Duke's prestigious Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Award. On the occasion of his retirement, two former students, Ann Pellham and Catherine Cullen, endowed a fund for innovative teaching in his name. His former students say that he taught them to look at media coverage of politics in creative and critical ways. His courses on film and politics have stayed with them for a lifetime. Some have shown "Paletz's movies" to their own children. We have gathered some tributes and memories here, mostly from former students, but also from colleagues and friends. There is room for more!
