I have David to thank for ending what might have been a promising golfing career. I took his Politics and Media class my senior year at Duke. The Tuesday evening class was an intellectual marathon which consisted of watching movies and then debating their political and artistic significance, often until the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Unfortunately, the late Tuesdays made it difficult to arise the next morning and I began missing my 11 a.m. golfing class, for which I did not share the same enthusiasm as Politics and the Media. I soon had to drop it or risk getting an F. I look back now and wonder, did I throw away a chance at a rewarding and lucrative career in Ladies Golf just to sit around and talk about movies?
David, I coulda been a contender, instead I’m a college professor!
With much love, Anne
